Our Mexican Bakery’s Master Baker

Jose has over 50 years of experience as a Baker. He began working at the age of 9 after his grandmother passed away in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. At an early age, it was in a Mom-and-Pop Bakery cleaning pots and pans where he began to learn how to make traditional pan dulce. With his enthusiasm and passion for baking bread, he soon became a Master Baker. Since arriving in San Antonio, TX in 1984, Jose has kept and continues those Mexican traditions alive between the walls of Mi Tierra café with bakery items such as Pan de Muerto, Buñuelos, Roscas de Reyes, and many more.
